Cue the music, roll the highlight film…we’ve got Thursday night preseason action!
Seriously, this game is ridiculous. What do we hope to accomplish tonight? Do you even want to see Quinn play? Maybe a series? Can you imagine the curse talk that would surround the city if Brady was injured in the last preseason game of the year? It just doesn’t seem worth it.
So why even play this game? Seems like a tremendous waste. Will the starters play more than a series? I’d play Derek Anderson pretty much the entire second and third quarters. Let Dorsey have the fourth. Maybe someone will make an offer for one of them. I can’t imagine carrying all four into the season. It just doesn’t make sense. And I don’t think that Dorsey is automatically out here. I think that Savage would trade Anderson for $.75 on the dollar. Maybe a fifth round pick? Maybe a D-lineman? I don’t know. I could see Atlanta, Minnesota, or even New Orleans trading for Anderson to be 2nd or 3rd string.
(By the way, the picture of Grossman here- usually his head is up his own butt, now he’s getting his lineman involved!)
But here’s why you should watch- it’s the last chance this year to see Bernie Kosar announce a Browns game. I have made no appologies for my opinion that Bernie is absolutely the worst color man I have heard do a game. He is totally unprofessional in every way. He has absolutely no objectivity, he sounds like he has had a few too many, and he talks over the play by play man all the time. I will agree that every once in a while he says something insightful, that only an ex-player would be able to contribute. But it just doesn’t make up for the rest of the package. It has been an interesting topic on the internet, as search engines will rev up following the game as people type in “Browns announcer drunk on air” to see what everyone else is saying about him. So have a good game Bernie, and please Romeo, let’s not let the ‘kid quaterback’ get killed tonight.
