Go West Young Team…and Win!

Pat chimes in with a West Coast preview before tonight’s game with the Golden State Warriors. Pat has his Wine and Gold colored glasses on, but if the Cavs stink up this trip, I promise you a scathing article. Pat the floor is yours.

After splitting their first two home games of the year the Wine and Gold head out west for 6 games. LeBron and company bounced back with an impressive come from behind win over the Knicks Friday at the Q. LeBron himself came back with an impressive 45 point effort.

Sunday night in the desert was a different story, where the run and gun game of the Phoenix Suns was too much for the Wine and Gold. Despite 27 from LeBron, the Cavs could not hold off Steve Nash and the running Suns in the 2nd half. The Suns erased a 7 point halftime deficit.

During this stretch of 5 games Cleveland will play the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz (ESPN), Sacramento Kings (ESPN), L.A. Clippers and the Denver Nuggets. This will be a good test for this young team, who will try to build on their last years’ success. After returning home they will play the Orlando Magic who many have picked to be a top team in the East this season.

During this road trip the Cavs need Sasha Pavlovic to get significant minutes and take some pressure off LeBron. I would like to see Sasha get to a point where he can start and we can bring Boobie Gibson off the bench as a 6th man. This will help the Wine and Gold as it did last year when they found a starting line up that clicked. If the Cavaliers can return to The Q with a .5oo record or better off this road trip it will be a good sign for what this team can do.

LeBron and company need to not let a slow start ruin what could be something great, especially since Charles Barkley didn’t even pick the Cavs to make the playoffs. That hurts, Chuck…I loved the you as the “Mound Round of Rebound” growing up, but you are dogging my Cavs!!!
