Here’s Pat’s take on the Cavs’ West coast trip.
So far on their West coast trip the Wine and Gold are 1-2. In their lone win they rode the back of non other than LeBron James against the Golden State Warriors. He has played great out west this week, but as Rick has asked, “Where has the help been?”
The game that continues to get under my skin is the game against the Utah Jazz. Find out why after the jump.
LeBron James earned his first triple double of the year during that game. However it was the last 10 seconds that matter. As the Cavs battled back from being down by 15 it was impressive watching them come back. LeBron attacked, by scoring and dishing. Damon Jones hit a big 3 in the 4th quarter. Big Z continues to play huge scoring and on the window. But with 10 seconds left is where I am focusing.
Cleveland calls a time out draws a play up. LeBron buries a 1 footed, fall away 3 pointer with 6 seconds left (that made me jump from my couch at 1AM). However the whole team forgot to match up Utah’s point guard Derron Williams as he drives the length of the floor hitting the game winning lay up with 1.3 seconds left. Now as a Cavs fan, a basketball fan, former player and a current coach this play bothers me to no end!!! You learn those fundamentals in junior high ball!!!
But if we were to focus on the end of that game we would not be ready for the next game. LeBron and Co. look forward to playing the Sacramento Kings on ESPN tonight. Sacramento who is without their go to guy Mike Bibby, which has been evident as the Kings started the season with a couple blow out losses. This could be the game that rights the ship and gets this west coast trip where it needs to be.
Here is to the Cavs evening the score out west at 2-2 and for more on tonight’s game later.
