Big weekend for Ohio sports

indians.gifReplace the remote batteries, make sure you have plenty of beverages and snacks because this is a big tv weekend in Cleveland. You have the Indians in California playing the Angels in a possible first round playoff preview. They start at 10:05 ET tonight, 9:05 Saturday, and 8:05 on ESPN Sunday night.

buckeye_leaves.jpgSaturday afternoon, make sure you find a spot that carries the Big Ten Network (curses upon buckeye_leaves.jpgbuckeye_leaves.jpgyour grand children Big Ten Network!) for the Buckeyes against the Akron Zips. The kick-off is slated for noon, Akron’s first points scheduled for sometime around 2:45. I’m thinking 45-3. Sounds about right. Wells goes for 175 and three scores after deciding not to go “Clarrett” on us.

brownshelmet1.gifFinally, the Browns and Steelers renew their rivalry on Sunday in Cleveland. I have a good feeling about this game. ESPN’s stats crew broke down the game, and gave the edge to Pittsburgh in just about every position except Linebacker (interesting), Defensive Backs, and Special Teams. They even gave the ‘coach’ edge to Pittsburgh. Come on! The man hasn’t ever been a head coach. Wow. I would also give the edge in LB’s and DB’s to the Browns, with all due respect to Crazy Hair.

I can’t help but feel like the Browns have a great shot to win this game. Nobody gives them a chance, plus so many of the Browns are playing with a chip on their shoulder. Bottom line to me- how well can we stop their rush, and get pressure on Roethlisberger? And how will we react to Pittsburgh’s blitz packages.

Angels drop Tribe 10-3…Indians appear on Jim Rome Show

First the ugly- the Angels pounded out 15 hits and scored 10 runs against Paul Byrd and the Tribe relievers Thursday. As hot as the Indians have been, they were bound to have a game like this sooner or later. It was distressing to see the team whiff 12 times. We really need to cut down on our strikeout total. We had a chance in the 3rd to break the game open when Victor struck out with the bases loaded. He didn’t just strike out, he chased pitches way out of the strike zone to bail out Escobar who had walked 2 straight batters.
